Celestial Notes

"Celestial Notes – A Musical Journey Through the Universe" is an event that connects music and astronomy.

Astronomer Elena Nordio introduces us to the celestial objects of our Universe, sharing interesting anecdotes about the planets of the Solar System, including comets and asteroids, and unraveling the mysteries of nebulae and galaxies, all the way to the furthest border of the Cosmos.

Pianist Blanca Quevedo delights us with pieces from her repertoire by famous composers and reveals some interesting aspects of music connected to astronomy.

Celestial objects and music merge while astronomical photos and videos are projected.

The event concludes with a brief observation of the sky through a telescope (weather permitting).

Elena Nordio is an astronomer and Starlight guide. She arrived in the Canary Islands in 2009, attracted by the wonderful skies of La Palma. In 2010, she began working in astrotourism, and in March 2015, she founded her own Company called Ad Astra La Palma. Since then, she has continued to show our starry skies to locals and tourists from all over the world with great enthusiasm and dedication.

Blanca Quevedo Sanz has been a piano teacher and the pianist of the children's choir in the Insular School of Music of La Palma since 2004, a task to which she dedicates herself with renewed enthusiasm until today. Thanks to her extensive and continuous training as well as her several artistic concerns, she participates in musical, poetic and theatrical projects that demonstrate her scenic versatility.
